Oscar Nominations: 2018

Oscars 2018The nominations for the 2018 Oscars have been revealed and there are some notable absentees from the list. Steven Spielberg is missing from the Best Director nod for his work on The Post, which given its favourable reviews and incredible performances, is a little surprising.

Michelle Williams was also missing in action from the Lead Actress category for her performance in Ridley Scott’s All the Money in the World. Perhaps less surprising is the omission of James Franco in the Lead Actor category. The stars’ recent sexual harassment allegations clearly tainting his frankly, excellent work in The Disaster Artist.

If the Academy Awards aren’t really your bag, the Movie Metropolis Alternative Oscars are now close to receiving 800 votes. Only you can choose the winners, it takes less than 3 minutes to fill in our survey. The full list of Academy Award nominations for 2018 is in this article.

    • Definitely. I’m still a little disappointed Spielberg was missed out and think the Academy missed a trick by not nominating Hugh Jackman for Logan, but superhero films don’t really fit the ‘remit’ for the Oscars haha.

What do you think?
