Can you believe it’s nearly Christmas again? I can’t either. It seems the older we get, the faster the years seem to fly by. At this time of the year, not only do we have to contend with dark nights but we also have to struggle getting the Christmas tree out of the loft.
To make it even worse, there’s present buying. Possibly the most stressful time of the year for those of us who like to give a gift to our friends and family, Christmas can really be a test of our patience. To help, I’ve put together a festive gift guide for the film lover in your life.
Here you can browse through some of the best items for Star Wars lovers, Jurassic Park fans, Marvel movie lovers and many more. If you do buy anything, make sure you come back and leave a comment in the box below to let me know you took my advice! Enjoy.
Star Wars Christmas Gifts
The amount of Star Wars products available on the market is frankly, astounding. But considering the success of all the films in the series, that’s really no surprise. Here, we’ve listed items in a range of different prices so you can keep to your budget with ease.
I’ll admit that £10 isn’t the biggest budget in the world but that doesn’t mean you can’t get a brilliant Star Wars gift. These lightsaber heat-changing mugs from Superdrug are really cool, showing the sabers as off when it’s cold and on after you pour in your favourite hot drink.
At just £6 they’ll make having a brew a special experience. Everyone loves a heat-changing mug, right?
These gorgeous prints from PostersbyJayne on Etsy are a beautiful addition to any room. Available in a range of different sizes, these exquisite pieces of artwork are in my opinion, an absolute steal! The silhouette design is contemporary and would look ideal in a modern apartment.
From just £18, you’re definitely going to be popular if you choose these for the Star Wars fan in your life.
Congratulations on having so much cash to spend on a piece of Star Wars history. This awesome Star Wars film cell features scenes from the original trilogy in a personalised, mounted frame. I’m a massive fan of film cells, I think they look really cool on a wall and I have a few myself.
For five pence shy of £70, this would make any Star Wars lover smile from ear to ear and even better, you’ll be in good books for the whole of 2018.
Jurassic Park Gift Ideas
This one was probably the easiest to write because Jurassic Park is my favourite film franchise bar none. While the number of items out in the marketplace is a little more limited compared to its sci-fi rival, there are some really stunning gift ideas for the dinosaur fan in your life.
Not Jurassic Park themed per-se, but ideal if you’re looking for a cheap dinosaur-related gift that has a whiff of Jurassic Park about it. Sam Neill’s Alan Grant was a massive velociraptor fan at the outset of the 1993 blockbuster, carrying with him a large, black claw.
Of course, we know that he throws it away during the park’s disintegration. This stunning replica of a Oviraptor claw would look beautiful mounted on a wall or even as a centre piece to a table. The guys over at Triassica have some incredible pieces in a range of really decent prices, so you should definitely check them out.
For our mid-range gift we return to Etsy and the TVandFilmScripts store. Their wide range of reprinted movie scripts is absolutely fabulous and for the bargain price of £12.99, you can buy your Jurassic Park lover a high-quality reprint of the original 134-page script.
While obviously not the original script, which would probably sell for upwards of £100,000, this laser reprint reeks of class and is an ideal Christmas gift for fans of the prehistoric franchise.
Everyone loves a game of Monopoly, don’t they? Well, dinosaur fans can now get in on the action with this brilliant Jurassic World–themed board. Instead of buying property, you’re now in charge of keeping the park open by purchasing a range of dinosaur exhibits.
At over £60, this version of the classic board game isn’t cheap, but is sure to please Jurassic Park fans and Monopoly fans alike. Jurassic World Monopoly is also a game I own myself, and I love playing with the franchise-themed tokens; the main gates are my favourite.
Harry Potter Gift Ideas
I don’t know many people who aren’t fans of Harry Potter, so it was an obvious choice to add the franchise to this Christmas gift guide. The magic really lends itself to some amazing products, but I’ve whittled it down to just three that I think are really worth a look for Harry Potter buffs everywhere.
Available on Etsy for under a tenner, these Harry Potter bath bombs are a fun way to get the young and young at heart to take a bath. The outer shell is an unassuming white that gives way to the colour of the Hogwarts house you’ve been sorted into as well as a little trinket to cement the fact you’re either Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw.
The sheer volume of Harry Potter products that fell into this price range made picking just one really difficult but I think these official house cushions are an ideal addition to your home this festive season.
Available in all four houses, they’re beautifully made with lovely soft fabrics and tassels. At £19.95 each from the Warner Bros. Studio Tour in Leavesden, they’re a lovely gift for you or the Harry Potter fan in your life.
I’m going all out for the Harry Potter pricey gift. For £100, you can buy your loved one a sterling silver Golden Snitch necklace from the Warner Bros. Studio Tour near London. This beautiful understated necklace is beautifully crafted with a tastefully sized Snitch at its core.
Ideal for the ultimate Harry Potter fan, or if you fancy a little treat to yourself too. I’m not going to blame you.
Marvel Christmas Presents
Marvel is the biggest film franchise in the world right now and with so many great films under its belt, you can see why. For a really cool Christmas gift, check out the brand-new limited edition sleeves the studio are producing for their movies.
From Doctor Strange to Captain America: Civil War, every film in the MCU has been given a nice lick of paint with some fancy new cover art. For under £10 you’re only going to get one, and it’ll be in DVD format rather than Blu-Ray but for a fan just starting a collection, they’re ideal.
Massive Marvel fan? Then chances are you’ve already seen these impressive wall lights dotted around the shops recently. Perhaps now is the time to treat yourself to one or buy one as the ideal gift for a Marvel-loving friend or family member.
B&Q are selling this Captain America shield example. For just £28, you could be very popular with the Marvel movie lover in your household this Christmas.
POP! Vinyls are hugely popular at the moment and it seems like every franchise is getting in on the action. From Star Wars to DC and everything in between, you’ll probably be able to find a POP! Product that suits the movie fan in your life.
Our £50+ present idea in the Marvel category is an adorable Ant-Man and Ant-Thony figure in which our intrepid hero rids atop the popular creature. At just shy of £100, this is one of the most expensive vinyls out there, but it’s ridiculously cute.
DC Comics Christmas Gifts
It would be unfair to include Marvel and not its arch rival, DC. Sure, the movies haven’t been as good as their stablemates, but the fans get behind them each and every time. There’s also some really cool gadgets out there too.
Top Trumps is a universally loved game and you’ll be hard pushed to find a brand that hasn’t in some way been immortalised in the fun cards. These DC Universe Top Trumps from Zavvi are a relative steal at only £3.99 and are sure to provide hours of enjoyment for young fans of the comics.
Staying with Zavvi for the moment, this collection of DC Comics graphic novels is sure to get any DC fan hot under the collar this Christmas. Featuring 10 mystery comics, ranging from classic titles such as Batman and Superman graphic novels, as well as Mortal Kombat, Resident Evil and Looney Tunes affiliated titles, your DC mad friend or family member will be thanking you for years to come with a gift like this. All for 1p under £20 as well. Bargain!
Black Manta will soon be making waves, get it, waves, in the new Aquaman movie and this incredibly detailed statue from Zavvi is sure to make the perfect Aquaman gift this Christmas.
Standing at over 30cm tall, this statue has been carefully crafted to ensure the likeness to the character you see in the film remains 100% in tact in the transition to figurine. It’s not cheap, but it’d make a cracking gift nonetheless.
James Bond Gift Ideas
James Bond is most definitely a franchise that has stood the test of time. Spanning 6 decades and with countless directors and stars making each one uniquely special, there’s really no wonder the series has so many fans. Let’s take a look at some of the best gifts for 007 fans everywhere.
Let’s kick this off with some cheese. A ‘License to Grill’ apron is an ideal gift for your dad, grandfather, brother or anyone else who’s used to using a BBQ over the summer period. Perhaps it won’t get much use at first, but this is sure to be a banger whilst grilling, well, bangers.
This is absolutely stunning, in fact, I’m tempted to get this CarVolution poster for myself. Going through every beautiful car that 007 has ever driven, it would look exquisite on the wall of any James Bond fan.
At £30 from Not on The High Street, it’s a great price too.
These James Bond cufflinks reek of class. Perfect for any suave gentleman, they are sure to make a great gift this festive season. At £119, they’re certainly not cheap, but they’re presented in a beautiful leatherette gift box and will surely make someone’s day come Christmas.
Generic Film Gifts
If you’re buying for someone who you know loves movies but you aren’t quite sure which franchise they’re a fan of or don’t want to buy a gift from a particular brand, then this is the section for you. I’ve picked three great movie-related presents that are sure to be a hit come Christmas Day.
Sneaking in at £10 is this awesome periodic table of horror movies mug. Featuring all the best films from the genre like The Fly and Flatliners, it’s sure to be a talking point in the office come 2018. Even better, if you’re new to RedBubble, you can get 10% off your first purchase, putting it firmly under £10.
At £11.99, this gift was close to being in the previous category, but for what you’re getting, I think it’s great value anyway. A personalised clapperboard is the type of thing many movie fans only dream of ever getting. Unless you’ve got the next Steven Spielberg living with you that is.
I own one of these and absolutely love it, so I can guarantee some happiness come Christmas.
For a touch of class this Christmas, get your movie lover a pair of whiskey glasses. “But what makes them film-related?” I hear you cry. Well these particular glasses are an exact replica of the tumblers Harrison Ford’s Decker uses in Blade Runner.
Hand cut from the finest Italian crystal and with their unique design, they’re sure to be a sure-fire hit upon opening this Christmas. Firebox has tonnes more great movie-related gifts so you should definitely check them out.
Thanks for reading. If you do end up purchasing any of these items based on my advice, don’t forget to come back and let me know what your recipient thought of them. Merry Christmas!
