Father’s Day will soon be upon us (Sunday 20th June 2021 in the UK), and if you are like me and always struggle to find the perfect gift for you dad, worry no more.

If he is a movie fan like you (otherwise you wouldn’t be reading this), I’ve picked out some amazing Father’s Day gift ideas with a film twist that he is sure to treasure for years to come.

And don’t tell anyone, but I’ve partnered with some amazing small businesses to give you special Movie Metropolis exclusive discounts on their amazing products, so keep your eyes peeled for this in this guide. Without further ado, shall we begin?

Movie Art

For dads who love their wall art, here are some amazing small businesses with incredible film-themed products.

The Ozone Lab

Avengers Infinity War artwork

Ozone was created by a computer student with a passion for the visual arts.

Started during the founder’s final grade spare time, he studied the colour of films, and after a lot of experimenting, he came to create The Ozone Lab, in which you can see your favourite films visualised like never before.

Each frame of your favourite film is extracted and resized to one pixel in width. Then, all the thousands of lines, and thus frames, that make up the film are sequentially stacked from left to right, resulting in a timeline that compresses the entire movie into a single figure and summarises its colours and atmosphere. To obtain different visualisations, the process is slightly altered, namely by changing the stacking direction.

The Ozone Lab has also created an exclusive discount code for Movie Metropolis readers, allowing you to buy their amazing artworks with 15% off until the end of June! Simply enter code: METRO21 at the checkout.

CultSketch

The Iron Giant artwork

CultSketch is a collection of illustrated prints inspired by some of history’s most iconic movies. Each design is available in 3 different sizes and digitally printed on quality 250gsm paper.

Even better, custom requests are also very welcome, meaning you can pick any film you wish, even if you can’t see it on their Etsy page.

Emily at CultSketch has created an exclusive discount code just for Movie Met readers – with 15% off her incredible range of products. Simply enter code: MOVIEMET15 at checkout.

Movie Collectables

If any dads out there are like me and love their collectables, then the variety of film collectables available at the moment is absolutely incredible. Here are just some of our favourites for Father’s Day.

Jada Toys

Black Widow model car

Jada Toys have created an amazing line of car models available to purchase with licenses from some of the world’s biggest films – from Fast & Furious to Scooby-Doo, the upcoming Black Widow movie (pictured) and Guardians of the Galaxy, the range of models on offer is something else.

I was lucky enough to see these models in the metal so to speak and the deeail on them is something you don’t see very often in models these days – really exquisite.

If your dad is a fan of cars, and film cars in particular, definitely check out the Jada Toys shop on Amazon to see their latest collection.

hmv x Hasbro

Infinity Gauntlet replica

Newly refreshed hmv and toy giant Hasbro have created an incredible collection of merchandise from franchises like Star Wars and the MCU, all with absolutely gorgeous details that are sure to make any film collectable fanatic weep with joy.

You can pick from action figures as well as replica props like the Eye of Agamotto in Doctor Strange – or how about Darth Vader’s helmet?

With over 100 products to choose from, hmv is the place to be for dads this Father’s Day.

Blu-Rays & DVDs

Streaming may be the trend at the moment, but nothing beats looking through a shelf of blu-rays and DVDs, especially if there are some steelbooks among them.

Zavvi Steelbook Collection

War of the Worlds steelbook

Nowhere has as many steelbooks on offer than Zavvi. With over 1000 titles available to buy and with prices as low as £4.99, it really is the place to be for amazing steelbooks that can take pride of place on any collector’s shelf.

With so many different genres available too, it’s highly unlikely you won’t find the perfect steelbook at Zavvi. Best of all, many steelbooks (available at Zavvi and elsewhere) come with their own limited edition artworks, so be on the look out for special art you wouldn’t find anywhere else.

Movie Snacks

If you are planing on watching a film with dad on Father’s Day, you will need some snacks, so here are my picks for the very best snacking gifts this year.

Cadbury Gifts

Cadbury personalised dairy milk

Cadbury is one of the world’s biggest chocolate makers and it’s easy to see why – us Brits just can’t get enough of the stuff. They’ve also introduced a range of personalised chocolate bars especially for Father’s Day as well as a number of gorgeous hampers.

Cadbury also own the Green & Blacks brand, so you can choose from some beautiful chocolates with a more upmarket feel too.

Joe & Seph’s Popcorn

Joe & Seph's Popcorn

A family business based in London, Joe & Seph’s popcorn is some of the fanciest popcorn available.

Forget just sweet or just salted popcorn, this is gourmet popcorn with a twist. Available in flavours like Budweiser, salted caramel and chocolate, the possibilities are almost endless. You can even pick savoury flavours like Camembert or how about blue cheese with walnut and celery?

Take a look at their amazing gift boxes too for a variety of flavours in one box. Perfection!

Whatever you choose to buy your dad this Father’s Day, we hope it’s a good one! And don’t forget to check out all the latest Netflix reviews to figure out what to watch this year.
