The Best & Worst Films of 2017… so far

Collage of 2017 filmsTowards the end of last year, I wrote an article about the films I was most looking forward to over the course of 2017. I also predicted that it would garner more box-office behemoths than any year before it.

Naturally, I was completely wrong and as of September 2017, only two films have broken the $1billion barrier; Beauty and the Beast and Fast & Furious 8. I really need to work on my predictions don’t I?

So, this got me thinking about which films have been a really welcome surprise over the last 9 months and the others that have been mightily disappointing. Without further ado, here’s my top 5 best and worst films of 2017, in no particular order of course. Continue reading

Spider-Man: Homecoming review “The Marvel touch”

Adam Brannon HeadshotThe first thing I’m going to tell you about Spider-Man: Homecoming is that it has been gloriously undersold in its uninspiring trailers and promotional posters. In fact, most of the marketing materials shown made it look like this would be Iron Man 4 ft. Peter Parker. Thankfully that’s not the case.

The second thing I’ll tell you is that Tom Holland’s turn as Peter Parker is very good indeed. But is he better than Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield? Well, for that you’ll have to read on. Continue reading
