Cinemagoers will be dropped into the hilarious and unforgiving world of Jumanji: The Next Level when the action-packed blockbuster is released in 4DX and ScreenX on 11th December, exclusively at Cineworld. Previews for the film will also be shown in 4DX on 7th and 8th December to help crank up the action for early-bird fans.
Audiences will be taken through the harshest desert landscapes, highest mountaintops and the deadliest jungles, as they’re get sucked back into the video-game for an even tougher challenge with the Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karren Gillan returning for the ride along with many more. Sleeper hit: a term used in the entertainment industry for a film that plays successfully for a long period and becomes a big success, despite being a surprise to critics, audiences and industry analysts.
You could say that Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle is the very definition of a sleeper hit. The first trailers were underwhelming, showcasing some ropey CGI, body swap comedy tropes and a lack of respect for the Robin Williams 1995 classic. Yet, in spite of all this, the film ended up grossing nearly $1billion worldwide.
Why? Well the film was actually pretty good. Sure, it wasn’t spectacular but a combination of a witty script, brilliant self-awareness and a roster of characters that were so well written they made Jack Black actually likeable, meant it shot straight to the top of the box office. Continue reading
It’s been 22 years since Joe Johnston thrilled cinemagoers with a little film called Jumanji. Starring the late, great Robin Williams, it has amassed a huge following over the years and has become nearly as loved as its leading star.
