Monstrous $100m opening expected for Jurassic World + new clip

The fourth instalment in the Jurassic Park franchise, Jurassic World is expected to open to bumper figures when it roars into cinemas next month.

The film, helmed by indie director Colin Trevorrow takes place 22 years after the events of Steven Spielberg’s breath-taking Jurassic Park, which was released in 1993.

Jurassic World stars man of the moment Chris Pratt, alongside Bryce Dallas Howard, Omar Sy, Ty Simpkins, Nick Robinson and Irrfan Khan.

Analysts have predicted a strong $100m opening weekend for the film that has had decent pre-release ticket sales which have been among the biggest of the year so far.

If Jurassic World crosses the coveted $100m barrier it will be the third film of 2015 to reach that milestone, with Furious 7 and Avengers: Age of Ultron being the other two films to have done so.

Jurassic Park has grossed over $1bn worldwide and remains one of the highest grossing films of all time with its sequel The Lost World also performing well, taking over $600m at the box-office.

However, its 2001 follow up, Jurassic Park III, only managed a total of $300m so Universal and co-financer Legendary Pictures will be hoping that these predictions do indeed translate into real life.

Initial reaction to the trailers has been mixed with many criticising the overuse of CGI rather than the animatronic effects the original films were known for.
