Pete Postelthwaite dies aged 64

Some sad news this morning on Movie Metropolis after it was announced that Oscar-nominated actor Pete Postelthwaite has died at the age of 64.

The star sadly passed away at a hospital in Shropshire after a long and arduous battle with cancer. Pete was perhaps best known for his work on the 1994 IRA biography In The Name Of The Father for which he was nominated for an Oscar.

Perhaps for me, his best role was in 1997 when he co-starred alongside Julianne Moore and Jeff Goldblum in the sequel to Steven Speilberg’s 1993 thriller Jurassic Park. It was in this film that Speilberg was quoted as saying that Pete was ‘the best actor in the world.’

Pete leaves behind his wife Jacqueline who he married in 2003 and his two children.

Genuinely a brilliant British legend.
